Windows 10 price and release date By Newegg

Although Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for those who own a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 PC, someone will have to buy a copy at retail—and on Saturday, Newegg accidentally published the price and ship date for Windows 10.
WinSuperSite appears to have been first to discover the pricing information. What hasn’t been confirmed, however, is whether the leak is accurate.
With that said, here’s the critical information: Windows 10 will be available for purchase on August 31, according to a page on the retailer’s site. An OEM copy of Windows 10 Homewill cost $109; an OEM copy of Windows 10 Professional will cost $149. Neither page lists any substantive differences between the Home and Professional editions of Windows 10, the two versions of Windows 10 designed for home PCs.
By contrast, Newegg charges $100 and $140, respectively, for a 64-bit copy of Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro.
Microsoft officials declined to confirm Newegg's information. "We are excited to offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified new or existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year," a spokeswoman said in an email. "Windows 10 will be available this summer, and we look forward to sharing more details about how the upgrade will be offered at a later date.”

Why this matters: Even if Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed these details (and we suspect that’s coming in short order), we now have a major retailer backing the prognostications of other industry sources. As for the price—well, it’s good to know that Windows 10 will be in the same ballpark as Windows 8.1 was.  The bottom line is that more and more pieces of the Windows 10 picture are falling into place.

A summer Windows 10 launch

Newegg’s release date adds to the clamor of sources suggesting Windows 10 will launch in late July. On Friday, for example, two independent reports suggested that Windows 10 will launch in late July. In a recent earnings call, AMD chief executive Lisa Su actually used the phrase “the end of July” with regard to the launch of Windows 10.
However, those July dates refer to the dates in which Windows 10 will supposedly be finalized and released to manufacturing (RTM). The Newegg date reflects general availability, or when you’ll actually be able to buy a copy. Microsoft has also implied that Insider testers of Windows 10 will receive the final version of Windows 10 that PC makers do—in other words, Windows 10 Insiders could have the final version of Windows 10 before Newegg puts it up for sale.
Newegg also revealed the minimum hardware specs for Windows 10:
  • Processor: 1GHz or faster
  • RAM: 1GB (32-bit) or 2GB (64-bit)
  • Free hard disk space: 16GB
  • Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
  • A Microsoft account and Internet access
Otherwise, the Windows 10 description that Newegg attached to its Windows 10 Home listing reveals no major surprises. It highlights that it was developed using feedback from “millions” of people; that it will include Cortana and a new Web browser (Edge); that it will stream games from the Xbox One via the new Xbox app; and it will allow users to take their digital “stuff” everywhere using the OneDrive app.
Microsoft has already said Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 users; Microsoft’s official blogger, Brandon LeBlanc, confirmed that again Saturday night.
There’s some question about how long Microsoft plans to support these free updates. Early on, Microsoft officials said they would support upgraded PCs through the “lifespan” of the device. Recently, however, Microsoft has seemed to imply that the update will be free essentially forever. Microsoft’s Tony Prophet said recently, “once you upgrade, you have Windows 10 for free on that device.”

Amazing Chrome Extension, to use Facebook in a interactive way, to get your friends location on map

Remember the magical Marauder’s Map from the Harry Potter books that reveal the whereabouts of characters as they roam classrooms and the halls of Hogwarts school?

A student developer from Cambridge has created a Chrome extension that works similar and also named it Marauder’s Map.

The extension that allows you to watch every footstep of your Facebook friends by grabbing location data from Facebook Messenger and rapidly plotting your friends’ locations on a map.

We all are aware that Facebook shares our location data with our friends, however, what we probably aren’t aware of the accuracy of that data and easiness of extracting that data from the messaging service.

LOCATION SHARING AND MAPPING...
Facebook usually encourages Messenger users to share their location by enabling location sharing by default when users install iOS or Android app.

Software developer Aran Khanna’s extension dubbed Marauder’s Map, loads the map in Messenger’s Web interface and fetches the data from messages sent over Facebook Messenger with location sharing enabled.

If you are in doubt that this extension could easily track all your location data, then you are wrong. The extension will able to map your location only for those instances when you have had a conversation with your friends over Messenger with location enabled.

BUT, IT'S YOUR FAULT...
The extension will not be able to get your location in between these instances when you have not used Messenger at all.

It’s not completely Facebook's fault because the service is only providing you a feature to share your locations with your friends, neither your friends (maybe you as well) are necessarily giving up their locations unknowingly.

But, it is most likely that your friends are not realizing how accurate this location data is and how easily this information can be used. They just click through to get chatting with their friends.

If you don’t want to share your location with your friends and keep your location data private, then you can disable location sharing feature by tapping the arrow icon in your Messenger, or simply go into the settings of your phone and disable Messenger’s location access altogether.

Android M to support fingerprint authentication

Andriod M:-

We are hearing rumors which are spreading around the next version of the android that may be unveiling at Google I/O next week, with the latest hinting that Google will take on Apple's TouchID with native fingerprint unlocking.

According to a report from BuzzFeed News, the new feature of Android M will allow users to log in to all of their Android devices without having to enter a password - they'll just need to place a finger on a sensor.

We don't have much more information to go on, but it's implied that there will be a number of supported applications that will allow you to log in using just your fingerprint.

Giving the finger

It was heavily rumoured that the Nexus 6 was going to use fingerprint scanning until a last minute change of heart, so Android's ability to handle biometric authentication could already be in place

If Google officially natively supports it with Android M, we could see a lot more Android devices begin to ship with fingerprint scanners in the near future.

Android M to bring more privacy controls for users

Google's 'Android M' is answering the call for more privacy by giving its users more say in the information that applications can access.

Bloomberg reports that the new operating system, set to debut at Google I/O 2015, will help users pick and choose what information is shared with certain applications, including photos, contacts, and location. This is an evolution in Google's walk to bring more privacy and peace of mind to its users.

iPhone users are sure to point out that Google is behind Apple's iOS on this matter. Google is feeling more pressure from Apple than ever, as Android's mobile market share is waning in certain parts of the world while Apple's is rising. The added pressure from its Cupertino competitor, and an ever-increasing outcry for transparency in the internet age, are both likely feeding into Google's privacy-centric changes.

The specifics on the amount of control 'Android M' will offer are still unknown, but we expect to learn all about it at Google's aforementioned developer conference in San Francisco, Calif. later this month. While Google may be playing catch-up with its privacy controls, application access control will be music to Android users' ears.

Windows Insiders get free upgrade path to Windows 10

Microsoft will give those who tested the next version of Windows through the Windows Insider program a free upgrade path to Windows 10 when the OS is released to manufacturing, meaning you will be able to upgrade to the final RTM version without the need of a clean install.
Update: In light of the confusion caused by the ambiguity of some of Microsoft's announcements, you can find an article posted on  here explaining Windows 10's free upgrade offer.
When this news was first revealed by Microsoft's Gabriel Aul through Twitter yesterday, there was a bit of confusion as to how the upgrade would work, with some people speculating that the free upgrade meant a free Windows 10 license, however that is not the case.
Current Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 license holders will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 free of charge for the first year, meaning you do get a free upgrade. Those already using Windows 10 previews, will be able to upgrade to the final release code, but that won't make it a valid license outright.
Microsoft has yet to reveal how much Windows 10 will cost as standalone software. At the time of Windows 8's launch, Microsoft offered a short-term deal that allowed those upgrading from as far back as Windows XP to get Windows 8 for just $39. Of course, free is even better.
This is not the first time users get mixed signals from Redmond. Earlier this year Microsoft stated that pirates upgrading to Windows 10 will be able to do so without an existing valid license, but the license will remain invalid after the upgrade is complete. What seems clear is that Microsoft doesn't plan on giving away free licenses to anyone, but users with valid Windows 7 and Windows 8 copies will get a free upgrade for a limited time.
Windows 10 will launch this summer, potentially around the end of July, with a large array of new features. Those interested in testing out the OS ahead of release can still join Microsoft's Insider Program and download the latest preview build right now.
